Same thing happened to me. I had to completely uninstall firefox instead of just updating and reinstall it.

That happens to me sometimes. When it does I just convince myself that whatever it is isn't worth doing and/or inferior to firefox and doesn't deserve my time/energy to indulge in it.

32 or 64 bit?

Normally you have to download the flash.exe from adobe, toss it up on your desktop or some random place like your porn folder, then quit firefox then run the exe.

Firefox has nothing to do with your OS.

You're just missing a plug in that's all. Like said before, download it from the Flash website.

When I get this sort of glitch (on a Mac!) I usually have to update Flash, Quicktime, and Firefox. Like one of the three will initiate an upgrade and it's up to us to figure out that the other two may need to be upgraded too in order to support the new upgrade of the first one. Once I get all three dialed in then I'm usually good for at least six months.

If you're trying to install Firefox 3 this is a very common glitch. I finally got it installed and it kept freezing up. I just went back to version 2 and no problems at all.

Did you uninstall all versions of Firefox and just install 2? That's what I had to do. And do a restart in between.

What I normally do is I'll go to the same website on IE. Install the flash thing and get the hell out of there. Once it's installed. It will work on Firefox.
