The commute home from work would surely be awkward without them tho?

Yeah, fun, ain't it?

I can play bass anytime I want as well...and usually have a few to choose from on any given day.

At my desk, I'm just a few feet from my P-Bass Lyte, but it's rare that I get a chance to play it.

I do tech support for an internet company, and do it all from home. It gets busy at times, but most days I have a few hours with nothing to do except play music and wait for the phone to ring. However, tt can be hard to work on stuff when you can be distracted at any moment...

Bassing while you're supposed to be doing work is the greatest.

I play my bass at work too. Then again, my bass is my work.
