I'll be moving at the end of August. I'll be living in the Prospect area. Any advice on good bass instructor's in the area? Music stores? Etc.? I'm looking forward to the move as my family is in Indiana, so i'll be much closer to them.

Any other suggestions are also welcome, such as, places to eat, live music, attractions, etc. Thanks

I don't know Loo'ville well enough to comment on specifics such as you asked for, but I have spent a bit of time there on a few occasions and I always thought it was a cool place with a nice vibe to it. Best of luck to you.

Not sure if you double, but Chris Fitzgerald on the DB side of the boards teaches at U of L. Not sure if he plays bass guitar though.

I have only visited that area. The Louisville Slugger Museum when I was in elementary school, and then a campus visit to U of L in 2004-2005.

Enjoy the area!

Thanks guys!

I'm not a DB'r. I bought my first bass at 30(40 now), and I still have A LOT to learn. Oh if I could do it all again...

Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm looking forward to the move.

+1 to looking up Chris Fitzgerald. He's a very nice guy and a great musician. I don't know if he teaches electric bass or not, but I'm sure he would help you find someone who does. Send him a PM.

I'm certain there are good instructors here, but I haven't searched for or found any. I may have a few pointers, but am no professor.

For bass gear, drive to Nashville and go to The Low End and other stores in that area. Check CraigsList for used stuff. Music stores in the Lou area include Guitar Emporium, Mom's Music, Guitar Center, Music Go Round, Willis Music, and maybe others. Guitar Emporium is the best bet for good vintage/rare gear. Any of 'em might have something you like.

Grab the Velocity which is free newspaper issued each Wednesday that summarizes local music events, comdedy shows, plays, movies, etc.

I like to go to concerts at Headliner's Music Hall, Brown Theater, and The Rudyard Kipling. All of the large acts typically play at the Kentucky Fried Chicken arena downtown these days. The boat casino has some good shows occasionally.

Gotcha I've heard that from other people as well, though I don't really get it, as Louisville was named after King Louis of France, no

Thanks for the input, fella's.
