I'm So Proud

I was down in my workshop/basement with my 16 month old son today and he was playing around with some disconnected rack audio gear. He found an old 1/4" instrument cable and plugged the ends into a patch bay that was there. The only time he's seen one of these cables and a 1/4" jack is when I play my bass. I'm amazed that he put the two together and was able to figure that out. He stood there like an audio engineer unplugging and replugging and playing with the EQ. I'll make a musician or producer out of him yet! I'm so proud (tear).

I know when I was young, I loved to go all audio technician on my parents' sound system (with questionable results ). It's great to learn your kid finds the stuff interesting!

MIJ, Really? That's your reply?

Haha, MIJ strikes again.

That is very cool about your son. Crazy how he made those mental connections and then applied that knowledge when he had the chance. I would be proud just like you are.

If you took away MIJ's links, he would lose 3/4 of his post count. Awesome for your son though man!

My daughter is 6 and is really interested in science. She said she wants to be a scientist when she grows up. She's really interested in what's going on when i'm at my work bench building or fixing amps/pedals. I explain things to her in simple terms and she asks a lot of questions. She likes to cut wires and pretend she's hooking them up to different things. She also has a drum set and guitar, and she likes to jam out with me in the basement. She REALLY wants to come see my band play live (but she finds practice boring lol).

I'm planting the seed and hoping it will grow...

It's really cool to see kids grow. It was amazing seeing my nephew change from a baby into a 'little person'.
