I also wanted to download movies and tv show (family guy, simpsons ) with utorrent and be able to watch them on itunes. most of the time when i download stuff, it comes in windows media format, but i want to make it into itunes format so i can put it on itunes!?!?!

But as your friend mentioned, you will need to decrypt it first. Plenty of tools out there for that as well. I use DVD Decrypter.

on my mac i use Handbrake to rip dvds and convert them to .avi/.mpg, all with one program... i'm sure there's probably some windows equivalent. |

You rip it onto your hard drvie. Then you point a converter at it, and convert to the file type of your choice. 200mb for a 2 hr movie seems AWFULLY small to my experience. The tools Videora and Handbrake can do this part, and they have profiles set up to match your type of iPod.
Finally, after you have what you want, where you want it, you MUST go back and delete the ripped DVD file, which is 4 gb, sitting somewhere on your PC!

Good call on the reminder. I made a folder for the decrypted DVD's so I could keep track and promptly delete them when I was done.
