But London has better taste in music than NYC. It's true .

Lady Gaga could not redeem them unfortunately .

I'm sure they still teach music in their schools too, coincidence?

Music isn't so much judged by talent more than press in this country.

This seems like such an arbitrary list. I see quite a bit of diversity and randomness amongst both cities. It looks like there was a video attached, which I'm unable to view on this computer, but just reviewing the playlists, I don't think there's enough there to say who has better taste or even whether there's a cultural element there or not. It's just a random mix of artists and songs.

We still teach music in a lot of schools. We also have a much larger and more diverse population with which to like bad music. Also, Lady Gaga is pretty boss IMO...

Judging purely by the standard of musicianship (which I know doesn't mean everybody) that I generally see on both sides of the pond, music education in America is streets ahead of what it is here. Seriously. I hate to admit it, but it's true.

I've wandered into venues in the States and seen quality playing that you would almost never see here. Sure, there are some crap musicians in both countries but we seem to have more of those than you do.

And Kwesi - wrong forum, dude!

Yeah, the lists seem pretty random.

Based on my scanning of the NME, which has a long history of proclaiming a new "Best Band in the History of Ever!!!" pretty much every week, I would conclude that your contention doesn't hold water, Kwesi. Also, the music scene in the UK has historically often seemed more fashion-driven than in the US.

The title led me to think this was a coming out thread

Not a single song in any of my playlists is listed there, shame on them.

I'm not sure what you mean by "better."

As far as I'm concerned, there is a good bit of bunk on both sides.
