Hey guys, recently I arrived in Texas for business. I'm staying in Addison and I was just wondering what are some things I need to check out? People keep telling me about the State fair? But I'm not sure if that's for me yet considering I just got here yesterday. Today I checked out the Galleria Shopping Center, and holy crap that place is HUGE! I can't believe there's a rink in there haha, I kind of wanted to grab a hockey stick and get a game of hockey going!
So what interesting and fun places can I check out while I'm in town? btw I'm 20 years old if that helps.
Thanks!

Thanks! | Welcome to the land of traffic jams and big malls, if you're into that sort of thing.
When I lived in Fort Worth, there was some cool stuff going on in Dallas. I caught some good jazz in Deep Ellum, went to the symphony, and the art museums. There was a gigantic flea market on the first Saturday of every month, with mostly electronics and computer surplus. |

Costs about $24 to get in. 6th floor museum is a cool museum of the JFK assassination and all the controversy and conspiracy theory around it. Check out the stockyards and downtown in Fort Worth. Also Fort Worth has an awesome zoo. Really great. How long are you going to be there? It's worth it to check out the state fair. It runs for weeks and has some cool exhibitions and whatnot.

Also, the mall in Frisco has an ice rink in it, and the one in Arlington may also. Are the Rangers in town? Maybe catch a ball game. Maybe I missed it, but how long are you in town?

West End in Dallas. Ranger Stadium and the new Cowboy Stadium, both in Arlington are worth seeing...great if you can see a game. Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth is fun too. Enjoy!!!

Texas is a mess with our shopping malls and traffic jams, yes. But we have good food. I don't even know where to begin to send you looking for a good meal. |

If you like the typical touristy stuff, there's the Dallas World Aquarium, Dallas Museum of Art, can't stress enough about the State Fair, the biggest in the country. Lots of fun stuff to do there, it's not your typical state fair.
There's a Guitar Center not far from you, right at I-635 and Welch Rd, on the service road of 635 on the north side, right past that Tollway right in front of you.
There's alot going on this week and weekend, a big college football weekend here, as, the Texas / OU game is at the Cotton Bowl, a metric s#it-ton of people come in from all over for this game.
There's a district just east of downtown Dallas called Deep Ellum. It was dead for awhile, but has been coming back over the past couple years. Lots of clubs, live bands nightly, some good restaurants, etc.
At most of the newsstands, there's a free weekly rag called the Dallas Observer. Go get one, they come out every Wednesday, new one comes out tomorrow. Has a good calendar of what's going on around town.
Again, welcome to Dallas, enjoy your stay!
