Anyone see it yet? It finally made its way up to my local theater, and I was going to check it out tonight (hooray for five dollar tuesdays!), but its snowing pretty heavily and the roads are absolute crap right now, so it'll have to wait.
For those of you not in the know, or perhaps in need of a refresher this is Heath Ledger's final film, directed by Terry Gilliam.
Positive aspects:
-a close to all-star cast (Ledger, Depp, Ferrel, Law,Waits)
-the fact that Law, Depp, and Ferrel are donating their shares of the profits to Heath's daughter.
-Nicola Pecorini's cinematography (Fear and Loathing is one of my favorite looking movies)
-Written by Terry Gilliam & Charles McKeown, 2/3rds of the team who wrote Brazil
-Terry Gilliam's direction
Warning Signs:
-The length of time between post-production and finding a distributor. Any movie with this cast shouldn't have nearly the difficulty it did finding one, unless it straight up sucks.
-The feasibility of using multiple actors to play one main character.
-Written by Terry Gilliam & Charles McKeown, 2/3rds of the team who wrote Brazil
-Terry Gilliam's direction.
Anyone else have any thoughts? Or perhaps some of you have already seen it? |

I haven`t heard anything bad about it, other than Heath`s character (well, the part he plays) doesn`t have a lot of depth, that the depth comes from the parts that the other guys covered for.

It's not a mainstream film by any means; you'd have to be a fan of Gilliam's type of surrealism (The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King, Time Bandits, et al) to get it, I think. |

Being a Gilliam fan helps. Brazil is another classic of his.
