iMovie Help

I'm trying to import some old movies from my hi-8 camcorder into iMovie on my Macbook. I've got an RCA-USB box that I'm running into my computer, but whenever I try to capture something in iMovie, it will only let me select my built in camera. If you can help, that would be awesome. Thanks. -Brad

i suspect iMovie will only work with firewire. Apple support for USB cameras has always been limited.

The easiest way to get old formates in is via a newer miniDV camera with video in, so you can play the old camera into the new one, press play, and then capture via the new camera's firewire.

Ah, yeah, iMovie will only work with firewire. What if I tried capturing it on my roommate's PC and then transferred the video files over to my mac?

Should work fine - just drag them in.

I'd do a few tests first to make sure that the file formats are correct for importing, but should work no problem.
