ok...my opinion here:
Raiders of the Lost Ark...awesome (The Ark, Nazis, Christian Lore)
Temple of Doom...bad (annoying kid from Goonies, Who cares about rocks? No real legend behind the plot)
Last Crusade...awesome (The Grail, Christian Lore, More Nazis, Sean Connery)
Will the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull be wonderful or a feeble attempt to bring an old hero back?
From what I've gathered:
-Real legend behind the plot: http://en.epochtimes.com/news/5-8-21/31477.html
-No Nazis
-There is some kind of "sidekick" but he is older
-Not Christian Lore
-the special effects will be amazing
-Indy is now my dads age
-Marion is back

I agree with your assessment of the other films, but didn't mid 2 as much as you did.

I don't give anything huge away but some plot details which if you've read an article or googled it you'd already know...
Psyched that Marion is back too. I expect Cate Blanchett to be a great villan since she's great in everything. Shia LaBoeuf might be fine too as long as its mostly Indy. I'm optimistic that it'll be better than Temple of Doom.
It takes place 19 years after Last Crusade in the movie and in real life. Yeah, this time it'll be Soviets, not Nazis, but that makes more sense give the timing.
I think this movie is going to make a ton of money...

Yeah, the Russkies might be a good foe. I just hope that they don't fall into the Hollywood Trap of ..."Indiana Jones is about boobie traps and crazy stunts". The trailer shows off a lot of the stunts and effects..which look amazing and I hope that it's just because of the one minute time constraint that you can't really get a sense of the plot. They gotta remember that a good story is what makes a good movie!
For the record: I am WAY excited to see this movie. I'm such a fan! Just hearing the music gives me the chills!! ha, I'm a dork...

I'll still probably see it though.
And for the record, I liked the second movie. Sure, it had a weird darkness to it, and no Nazis got the crap kicked out of them, but I still like it. The 3rd is my favorite though.

Sounds like he's telling people not to expect an epic film. |

On a derailment note, I just saw Iron Man. Pretty kickass.

When they kicked into the theme music, I got goosebumps. It took me back to being a 10 year boy old hiding under the seats in the movie theater so we could watch Raiders of the Lost Ark over, and over, and over, and over.
Dang....I didn't realize I was 10 years old when the original came out. I AM old.

| | Pat's the best! | | Join Date: Dec 2000 Location: Northern Virginia, USA | | | Temple of Doom was friggin' awesome. Chock full of greatness. Short Round, the great musical piece to begin followed by the crazy diamond/antidote hunt, the "LAO CHE" airline, the fall in the lifeboat followed by a tumble down the river. The hilarious dinner at Pankot Palace, the bug room, the booby trap room, the sacrifice chamber, heart removal, no gun this time for the sword guy, cutting the the bridge.
The second movie may be my favorite. |

2 was one of the worst movies of the decade. Lame plot, bad acting, bad acting, bad acting, BAD BAD BAD acting (who was that whining waste of a female foil?) and one cheapo gore/shock gag after another. That movie made me angry.
3 was great.
I am so hoping 4 is even remotely like 1 or 3.

I dare say that, just because you found some legend of sacred stones (Shankara Stones), the movie was not based around that legend or they really took MANY liberties with the legend.

Here's a good site debating the movie : http://toase.net/archives/000383.php

-Mike | Speaking of the theme music, a trumpet player friend of mine, Ramon Flores played in the orchestra on the soundtrack of this movie. Very cool.
