Indiana Jones: Worst movie ever.

I just got back from seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Words cannot describe how wretched this movie is. The script is terrible. The acting is awful. The action scenes are completely ridiculous and over the top, even for an Indiana Jones flick. The entire concept of the movie is just stupid, stupid stupid.

The entire thing was based on such ridiculous premise that it's no wonder they didn't tell audiences what it's based on in their marketing campaign - nobody would go to see it. If I had known that it was going to be about [blank], I would have never paid the ticket price. Beyond that, I had at least hoped to be entertained - I was not. I wanted to walk out 15 minutes into the film. Unfortunately, I was with friends, so I had to suffer through the whole thing.

I was angry when I walked out, and I'm sure I was not the only one. I heard many people muttering during the movie and afterwards. This was worse than Star Wars: The Phantom Menace by a long shot. It seemed that Harrison Ford was actually embarrassed to even be involved in this one.

George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg must be stopped. I now know why Sean Connery didn't want to be involved - he has some dignity and class and wouldn't want to be associated with a train wreck such as this.

I want to give everything away, to try to dissuade people from going to see this. As it is, there are some that might not share my opinion, so I won't ruin it with spoilers.

Anger... rising!

Saw Harrison on Late Night with Conan last night. He doesn't seem happy about the movie does he?
He seems like a bit of an arse too, didn't look very happy about anything to be honest.

So it's every other Indiana Jones flick is a wreck? I thought 1 & 3 were decent, but 2 was completely ridiculous. Curious about 4, now.

I saw a dateline NBC interview with him a year or so ago and he seemed thrilled about life... don't know how things have changed.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but I haven't heard anything good about it. Surprisingly, the critics are rating it pretty well. Another reason why I never trust the critics...

I thought the film was very good....apart from what it was actually about, that was daft and not at all suited to an IJ film.

Not surprising. George Lucas should stop raping his old movies.

I just started poking around some reviews, and I haven't found any that are favorable.

I liked IJ1 and 3 - 2 wasn't very good, but at least it was the same old Indy. This wasn't even recognizable as an IJ film beyond Harrison ford wielding a whip once or twice.

If anyone would like to PM me and spill the premise of this IJ installment, I'd love to hear it. If I was the producer, I'd tell Ford not to bother doing any more interviews, lol. He only gets passionate when he talks about flying.

Anyway, I have no plans to see this one.

Lucas is his own worst enemy. The augmented original star wars films are PATHETIC!

Speilberg lays low, makes a few action/shallow flicks, then makes a masterpiece like schindler's list, or saving private ryan. We cut him the slack, and usually they aren't too bad.

Lucas just seems to keep diggin through his own wastebasket thinking things like: "Let's see, which one of my concepts can I reinvent/ruin this time? Hey! I haven't mucked around with Indy in years, I think I'll bilk another complete PO$ guaranteed box office hit out of that one!"

It's like he's his own chris farley interview: "Remember! Remember, Remember! Remember when I made Thtar Warth? Yeah, that wath totally awethome!"

I don't plan on ever seeing this latest obvious piece of offal anyway.

Speed Racer with a whip and a Fedora, but with less of a believable plot, and crappier special effects.

Lucas is a more often than not a TERRIBLE director, and an horrific judge of dialog. Those three "prequels" had about as much depth as rice paper.

I read an interview with Lucas about a year and a half ago, maybe a year ago. He actually said that he wasn't thrilled with the script, but that 'the people want another Indy movie' and that its the right time for one. This was in a magazine at the movie theatre, not sure if I threw it out or not but I'll dig around and see if I can find it.

I may or may not be seeing this movie. Everything I've seen/heard about this movie seems to indicate that it sucks. Can I get that PM about the premise of the movie?

As whacked out as it sounds, these are exactly the qualities that made me like the old IJ flicks! I've always looked at them as an on-screen version of a comic book-type thing. Meh, I'll still go see this one

Someone PM me the premise, pur-leeeeze...I have a pretty good (and seeing it's Speilburp, pretty obvious) guess. Thanks. Bummer another fave franchise is being dragged across someone's posterior for profit....

Oh man, I was really hoping that this would be decent at least... I'll still probably go and see it.

I'll wait for the DVD and get it from Netflix. That way I'm not out a load of cash if it sucks.
