It's crazy. They had just made an annoucement the show would be postponed, then 10 seconds later then stage collapsed on the vip crowd. Local union members were critically injured that were running lights. If you look through pictures, half the sky is black, half clear blue.

The opening band had made a comment at the end of the set saying that it was so beautiful outside.
My thoughts go out to the people involved in the accident.

The footage is surreal; it almost looks like CGI. It must have been terrifying to be there.

On the heels of the Cheap Trick incident just a couple weeks ago in Canada... wow.

Bad things come in 3's, and that makes 2. Makes me glad my outdoor gigging season is about winding up.

I cant help but wonder how much of this was caused by "strong winds" and how much was "poor stage construction". Not to put the blame on anyone of course, I just know Ive played on my fair share of rickety stages...

Condolences to those who lost family & friends.

A freak, isolated storm for sure. Reminds me of the microbursts that have been cited as being responsible for some plane crashes in the past.

Regardless of the cause, it is a horrible tragedy that people lost their lives and I pray for the families who are suffering in the storm's aftermath.

I saw that on Sympatico as well, seems to be a lot if that going around lately. More than 3, actually, however most were lucky with no major injuries or deaths, until this one.
I can see some religious freak saying it's God's way of telling us He doesn't like this new music.
The main thing I've noticed is, the areas these stages are located is flat and wide open spaces. Prime location for "freak" weather.
Of course that is needed to get a lot of people in the venue. Sloppy stage constuction is also a problem. Unfortunately,in order to save a few bucks, the promoter will wait until the very last minute to send in the stage crew, with little time to erect it properly, and no inspection afterwards.
Just my toonies worth.
