Question Inexpensive photo editing software?

Hey guys, I asked this question once before for freeware and ended up downloading a virus that killed my 'puter, so now I'm ready to spend money . . .

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive photo editor? All I really want to do is crop pictures of my band. Thanks, Jon

If you use Windows, their Photo Viewer software will crop and resize. You would open the photo file and look at the tool bar across the top for 'Open'. Click on that and look for 'Paint', then click on that. You'll see all of the available tool buttons and you can do what is needed.

Do you have Microsoft Office? You can crop pictures very easily in Powerpoint. Some of the other Windows utilities will do it too, but I find PP about the easiest.

If you change your mind and decide that you do need more powerful and free image editing software...

How about free? Adobe allows free downloads of Photoshop CS2 now. There's also Picasa and Gimp which are also free.

GIMP and Inkscape are both good and free, though if you are just wanting to crop you can do that with any image editing software!

This is photoshop but it's free and fully supported by a very active community. Might be a bit more than you're looking for but it's every bit as powerful as photoshop without the price.

Try Picasa if you just need something basic. It's free and fully supported by Google

I find paint.net to be a little easier to use than GIMP.

If you decide to spend a tad, I've been using PaintshopPro for years and really like it. It's like PhotoShop but without the ginormous price tag.

i'd recommend GIMP. then again it might be overkill for your needs.

It should be pretty straightforward to download GIMP for windows without getting an infection. E.g. on the (wait for it) GIMP project website.

It's not the free software that infected you, it was the choice of download source.

IrfanView is excellent, simple, and free. Crop, rotate, resize, color correct.... It does a lot more, but the extra features never get in the way. Best image viewer evar!
