Hey guys, I've had an awesome job for a while now, and I just got approved for an auto loan for up to 40k, but it has to be new. I'm thinking a mid-sized sedan. Any recommendations?
thanks

Mid-sized sedan screams Honda Accord to me. There are many others and they don't cost $40,000. That's a lot of money for a car. Have you thought about used? You can save a lot by getting something 1-2 years old of a lease, etc. |

They go for roughly 30k. You get a nice, powerful, luxurious car; and aren't exactly breaking the bank as far as spending all that you're approved for.

Seriously isn't 40k a little excessive?

plus it will be good for the economy

Sweet cars definitely, would highly recommend Audi.
Good luck.

Edit: see the above comment. He beat me to it. |

I don't see the point in making payments on new cars, especially when the economy is such that you can find a killer deal used.
But, you know, if its important to you that you drive a new car, don't let someone you don't know talk you out of it. |

But, you know, if its important to you that you drive a new car, don't let someone you don't know talk you out of it. | That's nice. Let me know when you find the equivalent of a $40,000 in a proper condition without horrendous miles for under $10,000.
Buying used is fine but a statement like "why buy new for 40 when you can buy used for 10" is ridiculous.
I'd go with an A3. |

I wouldn't spend 40k on a car without watching the last season of Top Gear though.
