I find this a very responsible decision from BP, granted it may still be a little to late to the people who make their living off of the waters in the Gulf. http://www.bp.com/genericarticle.do?...tentId=7062799

Is this supposed to make me feel any better? My lifestyle and career have already been changed. Most of my friends' lifestyles have been affected. Many friends' families' careers have been affected. Some to the point of being a total loss.
Will this bring back the crops of mackerel, tuna, shrimp, oysters, alligators, amberjacks, drums, triggerfish, snapper, squid, crab, eels, etc. that breed in the Gulf estuaries? Some of these creatures reach maturity (ie: harvest size) in as little as a year. Is this to make me believe that this time next year I'll be back offshore fishing? How about inshore? Will the bait species that live their entire lives in our bays and coastal rivers be able to maintain enough to feed the larger species to return to stocks capable of supporting recreational and commercial fishing industries?
I have absolutely zero faith that BP and our government have an understanding of the total ramifications that we will face after the well has come under control; after a cleansing plan has been established and put into operation for our waters and coastline; after the "troops" have been called home and there are no more photo-ops.
...
BTW, once under control, BP can seal this well and never tap it again, choosing to drill into this reservoir from a different location. Then it's a different well, and they don't have to uphold any of these "promises".
[/Rant off]

Considering specialists who viewed the camera stated that it was at least 20k barrels/ day. Don't you think that the people in charge of cleaning the mess want to make it seem as small as possible?

I.e., most of their attempts to "fix" this issue involve recovering as much oil as they can rather than actually plugging the leak and saving the gulf. |
