Apple has just made its second-generation iPad official! It features a 1GHz dual-core A5 chip and, finally, cameras, both on the front and rear. The new CPU is said to be up to twice as fast, with graphics performance up to nine times better than on the original iPad, while power requirements have been kept the same. Battery life is, consequently, unaltered, with Apple promising 10 hours. Pricing, too, has been left unchanged, starting at $499 for a 16GB WiFi-only iPad 2 and stretching up to $829 for a WiFi + 3G SKU with 64GB of storage. The new tablet will come with an HDMI output capable of 1080p -- which will set you back $39 for the requisite dongle, called an Apple Digital AV Adapter -- but there will sadly be no rumblings of Thunderbolt connectivity here. What you will get is an enlarged speaker grille on the back, as expected, and the same 1024 x 768 resolution and IPS LCD screen technology as on the original iPad.

Its a crutch for people who want quick fast and amateurish programming. Its eats CPU cycles like mad, and is a client side resource hog. Yes when done correctly it has its uses (small ad's on a site for example) but makes for a horrible base of a website which too many places do.
Ill take java/javascript/HTML5/etc anyday over Flash thanks.

Aaron | True, but there is a lot of web streaming that is flash, so flash support for that would be nice.

lowsound | Easily solved (granted with $$$ and development time) with a coding change for mobile platforms. I expect this will come with time, flash is not the end all be all platform for mobile streaming. Netflix and YouTube do fine without flash on mobile platforms.

Aaron | Very true, but megavideo still does everything with flash.

Aaron | But until a MAJORITY of content providers switch over to that technology it takes it off the table for a ton of practical applications.
It's fine to want to push new technology, but you need to support existing (and widely popular) technology while pushing your agenda.
On a side note, I like my iPhone regardless. |

-Mike | Full disclosure, Ive been using Apple products since the Apple II and have always supported them updates to the OS. System 7, System 8, System 9 and OSX. Especially OSX as I spend the majority of my life buying, configuring, tuning, and maintaining enterprise level Unix systems. OSX is BSD Unix with a great front end. Something that the various Linux flavors still havent mastered all that well.
I dont own a computer to play games (I have consoles for that), I own them because they make my life easier in an IT environment and Windows doesnt do that. Im forced to use Windows on company laptops, but even then I spend most of my time working through cygwin and PuTTY.
So my choice to use Apple came long before the iPod, the iMac, the i(Whatever) ... just happens with OSX they came out with a powerful system that has a user friendly frontend to it.

Quick, buy it today and maybe next week or next month they'll lower the price by $200-$300 (like they did with the first iPhone) so then you can REALLY feel like s*^%.
