This would be a great drum machine interface.

Oh, that's a projector. At first I was in total awe, but I became suspicious of the camera position

The future of performing, production and DJ'ing....whatever. DJ'ing is neither performing or production...it's playing records. Wow.

Haters gonna hate

FWIW: If I were a DJ I'd rather vinyl and a couple turntables.

So basically this is kinda the same as a smart-board but on a transparent surface? Still cool, but less impressive once you know there's a projector. I wouldn't say no to one

The definition of "DJ", outside of the typical radio station, has become a lot broader than just putting a record down on a turntable and letting it play.

I can just see it now - The DJ forums will light up, with raging debates over 'vintage' equipment vs the new, all digital transparent table.

I know. Just being a little bit of a hater. Some of those guys equate themselves with a musician - I can't go there.

The role of a serious DJ is very impressive. But it's the same paradigm with graphic designers, copywriters, etc. Anyone with the tools will feel entitled to the name and trade.

This said, I've seen a projector using a smoke screen recently. Can this turn into a DJ table too?

projection or not, you are still interfacing with a customizable setup, and that in itself is pretty awesome. You are manipulating in real-time.

I agree with L-A on this. There are some incredible DJs out there who create art as much as anyone who plays an instrument. OTOH, there are plenty of lazy ones--same with those playing instruments.
