My boyfriend's HTC evo by Sprint, has it already. He can talk into his phone, and it will type out the text. This is great for when I am driving and trying to find directions or telling someone how close I am to a meeting spot, etc.
I looked all over the apps page, and only could find text to talk-other ward, you get a text-it "reads it" to you.
The closest I found made you send it by email or something crazy and wanted to charge monthly fees.
The HTC's is on the phone.
Does anyone know a site I can get it for a one time fee and or free? Does this exist on my phone already but I haven't found it? I found the thing in the tools where it tells you where you are touching on the phone (example: email, photo button) and I found it annoying cause everytime I touch phone it would talk. and to make things worse, I had a hard time getting that page opened back up to turn it off!!
Then I found the google thing where you speak what you are searching for. But not for texts. HELP! (please)

So the HTC EVO is running Android, and the newer versions of Android have speech-to-text built into the OS. This basically means that any time you have a text box on the phone, you can use speech-to-text. This is a fairly new feature, and I don't believe that the iPhone has speech-to-text, even in the new 4.0 version (I could be wrong about that, but I haven't heard as that being a feature).

So that leaves you with finding a 3rd party app, which probably will not be as integrated as the Android's is. If you search for "iPhone speech to text" in google, a bunch of results show up that talk about some of the apps that are available.

Dragon has an app that does it. it was free at some point. Don't know if it still is. After it types out the text then you can choose to make it a txt msg or email if I recall correctly and it will open that app and insert the txt. For voice directions and searches you can download either the google app or the Bing app. Both can do searches and directions from voice. I haven't used it too much but I want to say that Google ha better speech recognition. They're free so you could try out both.

yes, that is what I found and put on my phone. It's a pain to go from one app and then to the text to paste it but it's better than nothing. I didn't see the google one..although I got it for the internet search. Or more less I got it and didn't know that it did the text too?
