In English, a stone is both a unit of measure, and a rock. To stone is to hit someone with a bunch of rocks until they die. Stoned means you have smoked copious quantities of cannibus sativa, and to be stoned means the same thing. Or an angry mob came after you for committing a crime or being a heretic and threw rocks at you. A stoning is when someone gets stoned, but not when they smoke marijuana.
We need a language that makes more sense.
