So I have a very strange problem, in any browser but only on my computer. All websites load fine...except a select few. Gmail seems to never load, and facebook is very slow. Also when I search something in google when I click on a link it always goes to something random, nothing even close to what the link says. This only happens on my computer, in any browser, doesn't matter.
I've reset every possible setting for the internet, network connections, etc. This is driving me nuts as I need my email for some college stuff and can't always use another computer. I'm thinking that I'll reformat the damn thing cause no-one can figure this out. Any of you have any clue what's going down?

I'm guessing you use IE....Firefox is excellent, and Safari is growing in popularity. You can always upload your bookmarks into a new browser.

I've backed up all my data, you think reformating would be wise? a fresh install of windows xp would be pretty nice.

Have you tried inputting the OpenDNS server addresses(208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) into your internet configuration? It might help. Couldn't hurt.

for 2000/xp the temp folder should be in
c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp
for vista i think it is
c:\users\username\local settings\temp
though i'm not sure on that, i haven't used vista in awhile.
When you delete these files, use shift+del. that skips the recycling bin and permanently deletes them. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
