Ithaca Rehearsing

Does anyone here live in Ithaca, NY? My wife and I will be moving there in the next year and I was hoping to learn about the rehearsal space scene. I had heard that Ithaca has some pretty strict noise ordinances, but don't know if it was factual. Where do people in Ithaca rehearse?

Thanks mucho!

I've seen a few threads asking about the job scene, the housing scene, the education scene, the food scene, the ladies scene, and the music scene come up now and then for certain cities. This is the first time I seen one asking about the rehearsal space scene.

I live close to there, but I have no clue about the rehearsal scene. As with most college towns there have to be some spots. Or even better get a nice little place outside of town and crank it up with no worries. Plenty of open spaces within a short drive of town.

It's actually got a decent music appreciation and scene, and the area is incredible for scenery if you like Gorges and countryside.

Oh an on a side note you will be a nice short drive (1/2 hour) to Hipshot, stop by and they'll even give you a tour. It a fascinating place to see first hand.

I live in Ithaca, and the scene isn't too bad. But there isn't really rented rehearsal space. They tried it once, but the people running it were pretty shady. Most jamming/practice is in peoples basements, etc... It all really depends on where you live as far as noise ordinances. If you live right by Cornell or Ithaca College, they can be pretty strict since they have had so many problems with students.
