It's back: wildfire season in Tahoe-Reno

This has been a hat trick of an April for me: avalanche, earthquake, and wildfire.

I'm working from home today and I look outside my window across Washoe Valley to see this:

those suck. for the two years i went to school out in AZ they have a few of them. it was kinda odd looking to the north and seeing the glow light up the mountain skyline, it appeared to be the end of the world or something. hope you don't have to evacuate your house, you look pretty close.

i know the fires are always bad in southern California, but how bad are they in the northern parts? Is that(pictures) common?

I only ask because i got a job working at a camp a little bit west of lake Tahoe...should i expect fires like that all summer?

Thanks, MM.

Fires are very common in northern CA and NV. Last summer it was about 1 per week which was a particularly bad season.

No way. I still have my Sadowsky guitars and basses

...and smokin' hot g/f. Thank you 8 pound 6 ounce cute little baby Jesus and the always great tasting Taco Bell, wonderful Sadowsky guitars and basses which is proud to announce the Walter Beck Signature guitar which we all look forward to, my other sponsors, and my two beautiful sons, and ..... (sorry, hybrid Talledega Nights flashback)

Seriously: the Sierras are vast. This fire was caused by 75+ mph winds knocking down power lines into the brush. Most of the fires are caused by lightening strikes.

Yesterday was the last day at Squaw. Snow is evaporating and melting fast. There is still decent snow about about 7000 feet and higher but below that it's nearly all gone.
