Absolutely horrible, and unfortunately, I bet the first asinine comment is made by the bottom of page 1 of this thread.

No asininity here, only condolences and hopes that the bastard(s) responsible will be caught.

Yeah this is ridiculous. Is there any leads yet? Gang related?

The world is a crappy place. People like police, fire and rescue, and military who agree to give their lives if necessary for the protection of the public are often a target for what they represent.

God bless them all.

wow, is seattle a hotbed of gang activity? sounds like a gang initiation stunt to me.

on the other hand it could have been the traffic stop - the person they stopped might have driven around and come back on them.

either way, that's awful.

If the trainee with him managed to hit that car...

Well, i'm not sure how America works, but i think they should be able to put a lookout for cars with bullet holes in them?

Police put their lives on the line every day, but no one deserves to die on the job.

It sucks that I was thinking the exact same thing.

Such horrible tragedy.

I can't guarrantee what others would say, but why would anyone be snarky about a cold-blooded murder?

Some on these forums (and online forums in general) like to think they're clever, regardless of the situation. I wouldn't underestimate the immaturity of Internet users...

Condolences to the family and godspeed to the officer.

In that part of Seattle yes. As with any city; Seattle has it's fair share of drugs and violence. Typically, where there are drugs; gangs controlling the trade aren't very far behind.

The juxtaposition and disparity between wealth and poverty in Seattle is interesting. That shooting occurred in one of the poorer areas of the city (29th and Yessler); across the floating bridge from one of the wealthiest areas of the country; Mercer Island. You are either very well off,...or very underprivileged (with a just little in between).

Condolences to the officer and his family as well as to the trainee.

EDIT: BassNW is on Yessler but on the other side of town from where the shooting occurred.

That part of Seattle isn't one of the better neighborhoods.

They think they have the perpetrator in custody as of yesterday.

But the only adjective I can think of is senseless.

Ugh. I said it another thread and I'll say it in this one. People suck. Man, do we have to put bullet proof glass in the cruisers to protect our cops?

Im surprised they don't have it already.

Its horrible that people can do this, i can't see the motivation behind it.

Well, when people stop complaining about their taxes over here, and when some people stop avoiding paying them, then maybe one day cops can have that kind of protection.

Very sad indeed
