It's a good day for me- I finally know why I've been so ill

I went to my doctors today about all the health issues I've been suffering over the last year or so and he's made a semi-formal diagnosis of Cushing's Disease.

This causes among other things fatigue, weak muscles and diabetic-type symptoms which I have experienced myself.

Hopefully I'll be put on meds and get back to normal. At worst I may have to have some minor surgery. But at the moment I feel great.

Asked another doc, did ya?

I'm glad to hear you finally know what's going on. I hope for you it's a light form or Cushing's disease, but I heard any occurence of it can be completely treated.

Best of luck!

Yeah, I went to my normal doctor who's treated me for several years.

It's the treatment I don't like the sound of- at the least I'm going to be put on replacement hormones, at the extreme I'll need some form of surgery.

Glad to hear that you finally figured out what's wrong. It took me 14 years of stomach problems for a doctor to figure out that I was born missing part of my digestive tract. Now that you know what's going on, treating it/dealing with it will be a lot easier.

If I'm not mistaken many cases of the disease are caused by steroid medication.

How do you accept a "semi-formal" diagnosis from a doctor you have seen whilst on holiday. Thats at best a tentative opionion. Get real girl, give your regular GP a kick in the pants and get a proper diagnosis.

Usually that or adrenal tumors that cause hypersecretion.

As far as I know, if you haven't had Cushing's for a while, it would only be an adenoma at this state, which is benign. IF you have an adenoma, it can be removed by surgery, but it's entirely possible that this isn't due to a tumor at all.

Good to know you're getting it taken care of.
