It's official now, I've been waiting for this to buy an HD player. I will buy a blue-ray.

Sweet, makes me very glad I bought a PS3 and not a 360.

Was there any question, once Sony put it in the PS3?

Now does anyone want to buy an 8-track, Beta max, Laser disc player, mini-disk or DAT recorder?

Beta is still used in some cases today.

Mini Disc on the other hand was a complete folly.

Yes I'm glad as I bought a PS3 just before Christmas and have watched a few Blue-Ray films and was hoping for some more!

Did anybody buy an HD DVD player?

Shops were still selling both last week - that's going to be a big hit for all the stores with stocks of HD DVD!!

Actually I still have a portable mini-disc recorder and still use it for recording gigs/practices - it's great for musicians - no use for anyone else admittedly!

I loved mini disc, if only it had been used more.

Only reason it didnt take off was because sony could make more money on CDs

MD was just superior in every way!

Blu-ray seems pretty good but I'm also not a huge fan of Sony. They're almost as bad as Apple when it comes to pushing the proprietary stuff.

they also don't want pr0n to be made on BlueRay (which is probably a good thing but i don't like them dictating other people's content)

Are you serious? I can only imagine the huge revenues that the industry would generate.

Personally, I don't see why anyone would want to watch it in hi-def. A little bit of visual discrepancy is probably for the best.

Wrong and wrong.

Beta is not used today. The "Betacam" analog pro video format is not related to the "Betamax" home video format.

Also, MiniDisc was and is a fantastic recording format. A niche format, but a great one nonetheless.

Actually, porn chicks are ridiculously hot now, unless you buy the $10 movies, LOL.

I think porn is one of the biggest money making things in the world since like 2001 or something.
