I just got my new laptop today. It's my first 15" screen, and I'm loving it to death.

And in case you're interested, it's a Dell XPS M1530, so I can take my gaming with me to college.

Shhh! You'll wake up the fanboys!

I'm actually going to dual boot Vista and Fedora. I don't really have any problem with Vista, but I think the added security of a Linux platform will be really handy in a college setting.

Good call - IMO 15" is about the threshold where you get a nice big screen without having the laptop be cumbersome enough that it starts to lose portability points. My last laptop was a 14" widescreen. Good stuff!

Cool. Mine's fantastic. I'll gladly buy from them again.

My Macbook pro is 15" and it is most def the best size for uni/portability vs. useablility. Certainly for me anyway, I need it for all the graphics work (and I hook it up to my 20" dual at home).

S'perfec'.

I have an XPS tower that has lasted me three years and I got the XPS M1330 and aside from the ghastly Vista, was a pretty sweet computer. Now, I'm not even gonna touch the Mac vs. PC thing, apples and oranges, but I think if you aren't a computer moron, you can really get some serious bang for your buck from dell.

I got my laptop and my desktop off of www.ibuypower.com and not only is it cheaper than dell but the computers are WAY better for the price. Less paying for the brand name and more paying for what you actually get. IMO xps dells are both over rated and way overpriced.

I have had the same laptop for a couple months now and not a single problem, besides a needed wireless card driver update. Works well enough for the little gaming I do, too.

And I still don't know what everyone's problem with Vista is? The only really annoying thing I found so far is that sometimes it refuses to let me move or delete some files. I found a program to deal with that, and have had no more problems.

I have one of those... school gave it to me for free. Can't complain at that price. It functions well but little things are wrong with it (and always were). I can't get the "y" key to work on that for anything... you have to pound it to get it out.

My HP has worse stats, but I prefer its feel...

Congrats to the OP and welcome to the world of laptops. Now you can just sit in bed all day and browse TB.

The only people who I have heard complain are the ones with under 3 gigs of RAM.

Or the insanely picky ones. If it was THAT bad you'd think people would spend the what...$100? on XP.

I've just taken Vista off my laptop and put on a pirated copy of XP.

I love it.

I have one gig of ram, and Vista just sucks too many resources.

I'm normally pretty anti-download, but couldn't justify spending $100 on a downgrade.
