Well, goodbye again. In just a few dozen hours I'm leaving for the Kerrville Folk Festival again.
I'll be sunburned, surrounded by hippies, play too much 12-string guitar and have a sore throat from singing too much while breathing kaliche dust...and I'll be happy.
I'm going for the last ten or so days of the festival, and I basically can't wait.
Maybe this year I'll be able to post pics of the trip.

See y'all in a week and a half-ish!

| | <-- That guy looks like me, but old. | | Join Date: Aug 2002 Location: Arlington TX | | | Well...dirty hippies for sure. But no orgies. I'm an old married fart.
But we did have a guy die in the octa-potties(eight-segmented clusters of portapotties) this year. That made for a wierd shift ont he First Aid Krew.
I got to treat one of my heroes. Keith Grimwood, bass player for Trout Fishing In America (Look them up. They are awesome.) fell while helping someone set up their tent and got a little messed up. I told him he wasn't allowed to lift anything heavier than fifteen pounds until his Doctor said he could and recommended he make the guy whose tent he was working on be his personal servant until then.
Sang some DARNED impressive off-the-cuff harmonies with some people I see about once a year and made it work. That was very cool.
Got sunburned, but not as badly as I expected. I have a theory that the myth of spontaneous human combustion refers to the first time someone watched an Irishman get a sunburn.
Talked with a luthier to pass the time and impressed him enough with my knowledge of bass construction and its history that he asked me why I am not already building basses. (Unfortunately, while I know exactly what I'd LIKE to build, I have neither the time, nor the space, nor the money.)
Sang a song I wrote nearly twenty years ago with my old band for someone who was playing a song that uses the same chord progression. He immediately asked me if I have CD's available. That felt really good.

I have no idea what they took pics of, and no idea how to get them out of the camera on to the computer. But I suppose it's theoretically possible this year.

Fun will be had.
