Yes. Of course I'm referring to crawfish season. I know that only about 6-10 people will reply to this thread knowing the backyard culinary bliss that is a pot of boiled crawfish, but if you've opened this and feel left out, you should move some place with better food.

Sure. They don't get real good until around April (mid season).

It kinda sucks how the only seafood we get around here is not that great.

I do love a good crawfish boil though.

Already got the first boil planned. Crawfish boils are the key to making a non-football-season-weekend livable. 50 lbs of creatures, 10 lbs potatoes, corn, etc, a swimming pool, and a keg of beer... I can't wait 'till the weather warms up!
A few European TBers will be in the central Gulf Coast region this summer.... might be the perfect time for some mudbugs!

Yes you do, and so do I.

I feel a springtime trip to the homeland coming up...I need to pay an "official Roscoe Guitars" visit to BRLA, so yeah...April...

...anyone up for a centrally located crawfish boil/TBer GTG, say Slidell-ish, in April?

I'll bug my sister & bro-in-law about it, I don't think I'll have to work too hard to get it to happen.

I'm probably available. I might be able to offer a location, but that will take a massive amount of swindling on my part.

Crawfish are excellent!
There are some places around here (a scant few) believe it or not, where you can catch some nice ones. They don't taste like seafood to me though, they almost taste like some sort of odd vegetable. Gotta add lots of garlic though

Well, let's see...I need to do a bit of negotiating with little sister & family, as well as get all the other ducks in a row to get down there...but it may be an option...

We don't get to do fun things like this in VA.

There are no blue crabs left at all. There are no oysters left at all.

Oh, and does anyone here call em by crawdads? My father, who came from North Dakota, says crawdads, and my mother, who lived in the south for her childhood, says crawfish. Wheres the split?

When I first had them, I expected them to taste like shrimp, prawns or lobsters etc, I was surprised when they didn't. I guess it's a salt-water vs fresh water sorta thang. They are darn good though.
Damn, now I want some!

I'm contemplating driving out there. I have no money for gas and no time off for work, but I'm a free man damn it. If I wanted to get in my car and drive out there there are roads to get out there. I don't know what they are, but there are roads. Yes sirree bob there are roads. Long black roads with stuff on the sides of them. Stuff that you can stop at. And see things. I want. Gimme. There are roads, for goodness sake, there are roads. Gimme before I cry.

It tastes like WIN, a WIN that can never be un-won.

Maki, I'm already working on something in April, stay tuned, you definitely need to do that, and I will be happy to play tour guide if you time it right.
