iTunes problems.

Sign in to disble this ad
So, a few months ago(Beginning of the year, maybe Feb?) I bought a bunch of music off of iTunes on my computer. But since then my computer crashed. So I want to get reimbursed for the about 30-50(closer to the 50) dollars of music I bought. Is there any way to do this? Does any one have experience with this? Also, it is okay if I just get the music on my new computer.I don't need the money in credit.Thank you in advanced.

You should be able to apply your iTunes account to your new comp, and put the music there.
You will not be able to get your money back - you bought the tunes, they provided them. They did their part.
But getting them on a new comp should be do-able.

Yeah I didn't want the money back. How do I restore the music? Thanks.

Send an e-mail to Apple and they'll let you download all your songs again. I did this once.

...I'll have to do it again.

In the future, you may want to make regular backups of your music library through the iTunes software. Since they have their own system and use digital rights management (DRM) for the majority of the songs they sell, this is the only way you have the ability to restore your music after a crash or when upgrading computers.

FYI: I buy my music from Amazon; all high-quality, MP3, non-DRM music. I still have to backup my files, just like anything else, but I don't have to worry about restoring the library later or syncing up my music files with the licenses, etc. Nor do I have problems transferring songs to any portable devices or a limit on the number of burns, etc.

YMMV

I hope Apple lets you re-download your files as the previous reply indicated. Best wishes.

Related note:

Can you backup your iTunes library onto an external hard drive or even a large enough flash drive?

I ask because sooner or later I'm going to need a new computer and have a lot of my CD collection in my iTunes library.

How to back up your media in iTunes

The Complete Guide to Backing Up iPod & iTunes Music

In the case of getting a new computer and ditching an old one; due to a crash or otherwise, don't forget to deauthorize the old machine. ABOUT (This is just some of the stuff you have to go through with iTunes and other DRM music sites.)
