Talking I've Been Accepted to college! WooHoo!

Sign in to disble this ad
I actually got my letter Friday before last, but last week was finals week and I was too busy to spend much time on here.

I got my acceptance letter from Cal State Fullerton.

My college of choice is Cal State Long Beach, but Fullerton's my runner-up.

My declared major when I sent in the apps was Music Composition, but I realized about a month after I sent em' in that I'd rather get a degree in Economics.

I've been trying to change it, but their admissions department doesn't seem to want to talk to me...

Congrats.

I don't really know Fullerton. The CSUs I know best are Chico, Sac & Sonoma, but I also have spent a fair amount of time at Long Beach. Good school. Hopefully you get in there too and get to take your pick.

I wouldn't worry too much about changing your major right now. Wait until you actually make up your mind to go there and then change it in person. A lot of times they make it difficult to change your proposed major so applicants don't back door their way in. At Cal it was harder to get accepted as a potential engineering student than it was for other "colleges". So people would apply with a proposed major of "forestry" (in the college of Natural Resources) and then try to transfer over. So they made it hard to do.

But as long as it's for legit reasons, you shouldn't have any trouble changing.

Congratz! We're in the same, college-bound boat, lol. I applied to a bunch of schools and ot a bunch of acceptances but I want to get into University of Maryland College Park, U of MD Baltimore County, Virginia Tech or Carnegie Mellon majoring in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

yeah, but that means I have to audition for the music program... Seems like a bit of a waste to audition and make it into the music program to simply transfer out...

Ok, that's a bigger deal. Does your acceptance hinge on a successful audition? When are the auditions scheduled?

If they aren't until summer or fall then I'd wait to see if that's even where you're going. If it is, just make sure you talk to a real person and before they hang up either make sure they fix it or give you the number of someone else you can call. And if possible, go in person.

auditions for Fullerton are in a couple of weeks .

no, acceptance doesn't require a successful audition, you're just placed on musical probation until you are able to successfully complete an audition.

Keep in mind, that's just if you show up and fail the audition. I have no idea what'd happen if I straight up blow it off...

Excellent news!!!! Way to go.

Congratulations to the guy who was accepted to Carnegie Mellon too! Great school, I'd pick that one for sure.

Congrats!

But I never understood the point of having to declare a major before you go. So many students (myself included) have no idea what they want to do when they start university, and their desires can change drastically, depending on the quality of their classes and their desire to pursue a certain topic (that is to say, a good professor can completely change a student's perspective on a certain field).

Congrats and good luck getting things changed

I think things are different over here, as you pick the degree you are going for when you apply, and while you can change it, it is typically only within the related field.

Stick in there, do well, and try not to enjoy the life too much, you do need some work in there too

Congrats to all.

I remember my first acceptance letter, and the next seven. I applied to eight schools on the recommendation of my high school guidance counselor that said no school in their right mind would take me. Seven out of eight did, and I photocopied the acceptance letters and taped them to her door.

She was an awful counselor, did nothing to help me or anyone I now, and told us we would all be failures.

So now she is probably one of those cranky witches who handles the merchandise returns at Walmart.

In retrospect, it worked, didn't it?

I suppose it did, but I highly doubt it was her aim. I graduated high school with a GPA of 2.23 and scored a 1310 on the SAT's without any sleep the night before. I was smart, just never applied myself.

She was convinced I was a failure.

The only thing I do know for sure... I'd love to be young, dumb and... heading off to college again! Dang those were exciting times!! Enjoy it all you young whippersnappers!!

Awesome!! Great job!!

I always figured the only reason someone would become a high school guidance counselor is because...

...McDonalds wasn't currently hiring.
