So, my room mates have a jam/prog band. Their bassist, while a nice guy, is pretty damn irresponsible. He got kicked out of his house for being 3 months late on rent, gets involved with lame girls w/ kids, and has wrecked 2 cars in the past year and always has others drive him around.
Anyways, he washes dishes at the local hipster bar three days a week, but supports himself primarily from selling 'the pot'. He's a good guitarist, and primarily an electronic composer. But, when my room mates needed a bassist, he offered his services to them. Because he has never primarilly been a bassist before, he has no gear, so he's been borrowing my bass equipment for the past year. A few weeks ago, my band and their band had shows on the same day so he couldn't use my gear. He got all butthurt when his band was irritated he didn't have anything of his own (except his Squier P bass), he promised he'd get stuff. Yesterday he shows up at our house (which is a practice space) with:
-Ampeg SVT-3
-Ampeg 4x10
-Ampeg 2x12
-Sammick 5 string P/J
...all from a single weekends worth of 'selling'.
All this time, my lame straightedge self has been languishing away with cubicle jobs and I haven't acquired anything like that in the 10 years since I’ve been playing.
...i need a career shift
