This morning was the final straw!
This morning I slept in, missing a lecture I had at 10. I don't then have to be in until 4 for my next lecture so I thought I'd stay in and play some bass.
Then I went out into the kitchen. It was a disgrace and hadn't been done in ages obviously. The corridor was also coated in dust and dirt. So I ended up mopping both floors of both bathrooms/kitchen and then hoovering the entire house.
The thing that annoys me is that everyone uses the kitchen and bathrooms yet I ended up doing the grand majority of the work needed this morning. The hoover didn't look like it had been used in a long time either, being covered in a thick sheet of dust.
The problem is that the grand majority of the people in my flat keep themselves to their rooms and so I hardly see any of them. They also gave me every excuse not to have a house meeting and sort out a cleaning rota. One of them is hardly able to speak English!
What should I do TB? I shouldn't have to be doing this....!
PS I will confess I was a little untidy when I first moved in but I'm really tidy now.

Have a group meeting?
Buy a whiteboard/corkboard for bills and chores?
Punch them in their sleep?
Basically you can be assertive and ask/tell them to do it or you can continue cleaning by yourself and complaining. And if they flat out refuse to do it and it's that unbearable, then find somewhere else to live. You need to weigh how willing you are to explore those options vs how much it really bothers you. |

| | | | Move out. If you've gone through every option and they still won't cooperate, there's little you can really do. Either that, or just put up with it. However, if it were me, I would pack up and leave. |

I've tried putting up notices/a rota but no-one takes a blind bit of notice or the notices are taken down. I've also tried talking individually to everyone but the same old excuses are dragged up- 'I'm working late, I've got an exam so I'm busy revising, I don't use the kitchen....'
You get the idea.

Do you pay utilities? If so, are they in your name? Because the first thing I would do is call up and cancel them until things change.
Stacking dirty dishes that they use on their desks or bed is another thing I've done.
Being obnoxiously loud early in the morning or late at night is sure to prompt a discussion.
My compromise with filthy suitemates was that they keep it localized to their room. |

Think a few blasts of bass would do the trick? I can get lots of effects pedals as well....!
