I've lost the ability to sleep in on Saturdays

Sign in to disble this ad
No, it's not because I need to get to work or anything. I've got nothing planned on saturday but for the past weeks I just woke up at 9 and havent been able to just turn around and sleep on. I must be violating some unwritten rule, I mean, everybody should sleep in on saturdays...

9? I still consider that sleeping in when I normally have to get up at 6.

I was awake at 5:45 this morning, working on some synth sounds. I have not slept past 9 since the last time I was sick. but some people just have different sleeping habits. I sleep 12-5:30 or 6 most of the time.

best of luck.

Once you have kids, "sleeping in" never gets past 7:30-8am.

I used to sleep in til a good 12pm - 2ish when i could. Now that i have to wake up at 7 for university 3 days a week, for some reason i cant sleep in much later than 9. And i went to bed at 4 last night. Strange.

My god daughter had her wedding last night and I rolled into bed about 12:45 am and I managed to get up at 7:48 am. That was a good sleep for me as my average is 6 hours at best. I wish I could sleep like my wife on the weekends. She can nod off for 10-12 hours like it was nothing if given the chance. When it comes to getting to bed in the wee hours of the morning from after a gig night, I take forever to fall asleep and even if I can sleep in, I'm lucky if my body and brain will let me get 5 hours. I don't know why that is.

More word. I woke up this morning at 6:05, no alarm necessary. Oh well, I gave the dog a nice long walk and read the paper with my morning coffee in sweet silence.

There are perks to not sleeping in. I guess I really have arrived in the land of OLD.

Actually, "sleeping in" one or 2 days a week is bad for you. It just makes it harder to get up the other days. You can't "catch up" on sleep. A regular schedule is best for your overall health.

Stay up later on Friday nights.

Much later.

4-5am later.

I guarantee you will sleep in, at least more than you were before.

It's got to be an age thing. I used to be able to sleep till noon back in my younger days, now I get up at 8 on Saturdays and Sundays and I'm good to go. Besides, if I stay in bed for too long, then when I get up I hurt all over. Come to think of it, I hurt all over when I get up no matter what time it is! I tell ya, growing old sucks!

I know, I was up at 7:00 and that was sleeping in for me. My son is 7 now and he ends up sleeping in later than me. He's usually up around 8 or 8:30.

I remeber before we had our son it was unheard of to get up before 10. Usually it was more like 11:30. My wife still does. I just can't.

To be honest though, I really enjoy getting up early. I make some coffee, have a quick bite to eat, and then practice with headphones for an hour.

This is normal. One feels like a load of crap by sleeping late.

Just wake up early, get something done like work around the house or meaningful practice, and then take a little siesta after lunch. This is SOP in much of the world.
