What stuff (bass-related or otherwise) should I do/see/eat here?

I'm a freshman at UT.

Go to Bass Emproium on Anderson Lane.

Also for setups, the Musical Exchange on North Loop Boulevard.

See a show at the Backyard before they relocate after October. Plan for a walk, though.

Go to Antone's and the Continental Club and Jovita's and Threadgill's.

Visit Waterloo Records.

Stop by the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue at Auditorium Shores.

Eat at Matt's El Rancho (S. Lamar) and Chuy's (have the Elvis Presley Memorial Platter).

There's more. You might check out the Chronicle for show listings. Welcome, pardner.

Visit the capitol!

The Parlor has decent pizza, and also has bands play time to time (I should know...I did last year).

Big +1 on Matt's El Rancho and Bass Emporium - I love the chile rellenos at Matt's.

Best coffee in town = Cafe Medici on West Lynn followed closely by JP's Java, which is pretty close to campus (on the north side).

Too many other good restaurants. Just try them all.

I took a bus to Bass Emporium today, but I didn't check the hours beforehand so I didn't know they closed Monday. The stuff I saw through the window looking pretty cool though.
