Why are blazer pockets and pockets on coats sewn shut?
Are you supposed to cut them open? If so, why sew them shut?
What's considered proper?

This is news to me.
On the other hand, Snickers work clothes, T-shirts and jeans are about the only pieces of outer layer clothing I wear  .
I know a certain situation where the pockets should be sewed shut: SINGERS JEANS. Good grief it looks horrible when someone is the center of the attention and plays pocket pool. Fortunately we don't have that particular problem anymore  .
