Just wondering if anyone here frequented the forums over at jacopastorius.com. I figured someone here must be a member over there too.
But my point is this: There are no more forums. I haven't been on there in a while, those forums are painfully slow-moving and have only about a half dozen people who post regularly. There was talk a little while ago about the forums possibly going down, but apparently it really happened.
I've been a member over there for about 7 years, so this sucks. Even if it was a slow-moving forum, it was nice and I'm gonna miss the few people on there that I actually talked to occasionally.
Anybody here have any information on what happened?

| | | | Thanks for posting, MikeyFingers.
Yes, I too was quite shocked and dismayed at the way jacopastorius.com just killed the forums without even a word of warning!
There was some good discussion there and threads involving Bobby Colomby, etc. - important historical info that is now probably lost forever.
It really looks like the heart and soul has left that site - the greed of the marketing weasels marches on. |

Better still, post it here.

If you know a better way of accessing the cache than just google search on site:jacopastorius.com, then please let us know how to do it. |

I found the cached version of jacopastorius.com discussion forums here.
From this, I copied the link address to the subforums. Then I searched google for "cache:<the link address>". This gave me the cached version of the above link. If you get into the cached version of the subforum pages, you can, using the above method, use the link address to threads to view their cached versions.
Sad thing is, not all the threads have been cached in Google. You can try to salvage whatever is possible.
Additionally, I got some really old versions of the discussion forums here, on archive.org. Using this, all the threads present in the discussion forum on certain dates are viewable (as their archived versions, of course). There are no versions of the forums in this result from 2009 and 2010, though, I'm afraid.

I mean, the place was a ghost town most of the time, but there was some really good information in there, plus regular posters included Bob Bobbing and a few members of the Pastorius family. It was a great site.

| | | | It was my understanding that Bob Bobbing was the site admin - the boss of the forum.
I can't imagine that he would have agreed to this - without a word to the many members who devoted years and thousands of postings to honor Jaco's legacy.
Hopefully Bob will come over here and explain what happened, unless he is under a gag order from 'The Family'. |

Is there some way to contact the web site?
