It's so refreshing to see athletes who don't blow all their money and wind up bankrupt 3 years after they retire and are forced to do energizer commercials.

Very! What do you do when you make some cash? Make your cash make more cash. I wanna do that at some point in my life. Maybe not on that big a scale but that first million won't make itself!

Very smart move! Jamal always impressed me as someone with a very good head on his shoulders! Other professional athletes should take notes.

Waiter, I'll start with the onion blossom to warm up, and could I have the meat-lover's pizza and steak combo with mashed potatoes and an extra large coffee. Oh, and I'll have a dozen assorted donuts for dessert, thanks.

That's a very cool story, glad to hear he's doing well.

However, Mashburn's restaurants should notify the patrons who the owner is. Clearly, there's an increased risk of choking.

Dime: So what have you been up to since you retired?

Jamal Mashburn: Lot of things. I started with ESPN four years ago. Lots of people don't know but I was a communications major in college. I didn't anticipate doing what I studied in college, but when I finished my basketball career it made sense. I've always been in business and own franchises of Papa John's, Dunkin' Donuts and Outback Steakhouse, as well as car dealerships. I own over 34 Outbacks, 37 Papa John's and dealerships in Kentucky. I've always wanted to carry a briefcase. It's just something you want to do growing up in NYC. When I was younger, I always wondered what was in them.
That's my kind of thinker. I hope he continues to create wealth while contributing to society.
