Unhappy Jellybean R.I.P.

A dear member of my family has passed. We just had to put Jellybean, my American bulldog, to sleep this evening. Many of you might associate his face with me as his ugly mug is my avatar on here... He was my best friend for the last 11+ years.

He had cancer and had lost a lot of weight recently. Fortunately, he did not suffer much pain with all he had lost (at least not that he let on, tough bastard that he was). We did the humane thing in not letting his condition worsen and I was able to stay with him right to his very peaceful end...

Needless to say, I'm going to miss him like crazy. So everybody who has a pet, please make sure to give them some extra attention and love tonight in honor of my big bean.

Sorry to hear about you losing your dog, Joe.

Losing a pet (friend) is never easy.

I can feel your pain.....I had the same situation 3 weeks ago today, I lost my 16 yr old Husky, Sasha. She had been slowing down considerably, but she finally told us it was time. Sashsa was with us since the month we bought our first house....before we were married, and several years before we had "real" kids.

There is no friend more absolute than our fuzzy friends, and I will be thinking about you and yours tonight.

I have an American Bulldog and know how strong of a bond can be built with one. Ours is a family member on every level. Thoughts and prayers to you and Jellybean.

I remember when we had to put our dog down because it had cancer. I was 5. It was the only time I ever saw my dad cry. Sorry man. Just remember the 12 years you did have.

Thanks for you kind words guys, he truly was a wonderful dog... You really can't ask for a better friend/companion than he was.

I have to agree, dogs FTW.

So sorry to hear about your loss, it's devastating

I'm gonna go give my boy a hug, he's 16-17 (stray so we dont know for sure), practically blind and deaf, but still loves human company and being part of the family.
