Trainwreck ahead.

You know Joaquin Phoenix, no? Here he is in better days:

And here he is on Letteramn

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1xK6xz8d9Q&eurl

Is Phoenix doing shtick? If not, was it Letterman's fault for goofing on his beard first thing?

Whether he's stoned or just really funny, I don't care.

I got my giggles out of it.

Yeah I can't tell if he's really Howard Hughes or just acting as Howard Hughes.

He has always bored me, even as an actor. It's a shame stuff like this is even wasting anyone's time.

Could this be a Kaufman-esque debacle?

He's definitely lost his noodle in the soup . . .
He reminds me of Johnny Depp; he's a great actor but off-stage there's no real direction. Maybe that's it; they need an actual Director to tell them what to do and say . . .

It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen on TV in along time. Letterman had by the shorts through the whole interview. It was even better than the night Letterman showed the country what an idiot Bill O'Rielly is.

I think JP didn't want to do a promo for the new movie...cause he doesn't care about acting anymore. He wants to be a hip hop star....so he's too BA for crap like promoting movies.

If you have seen any of his crap music.....it should make you wonder why he chose this path.

Cheers,
BT

There was a thread awhile back when he announced he was leaving acting to pursue his music. I thought then that this was all a hoax. The fact that I read one of his actor friends is "documenting" his musical experience makes me think that even more.

I think he's a good actor, and I enjoy having my time wasted with uncomfortable interviews.

He says he's gonna be doing rap music. well, his family was very music oriented, growing up. I hope he doesn't end up like River.

I loved it when he got shanked in Gladiator. Although the best part was the Maximus reveal. "IN YOUR FACE CAESAR!"
