Has anyone ever been to a John Mayer concert? I went last summer for my first concert and I wasnt too excited about it cuz I wasnt really into him and my brother picked out the concert, but I loved it!!! It was one of the best experiences of my life!!!
P.S. This is completely unrelated, but have any of you ever heard of Collin Brewer?
P.P.S. This is related, what was your first concert?

Can't say that I've been to see any of them preform. John Mayer is tolerable.

My first concert was Weezer in 94 when I was 15.

I don't mind John Mayer. First show was The Damned in 1983.

My first concert was KISS and Aerosmith in 2003. Night before Thanksgiving. Gene Simmons had a cold and couldn't breathe fire. Steve Tyler had something wrong with him as well. My dad almost had to go backstage because they couldn't find a doctor for Steve Tyler to see what was wrong with him, and my dad's friend has some connections to some security people for Aerosmith so she was backstage and said she would go get my dad to look down Steve's throat, but right as she was leaving they found someone for him. Even with the colds going around, it was a great night, and you couldnt really tell that either one was sick.

That's true of a lot of artists.

Some bands are live bands and their records are only a distraction. I think Mayer may be one of those artists. The Grateful Dead and insert Jamband here are others.

The vibe you get at a show cannot be duplicated in the studio.

First show-Les Claypool

John Mayer-can't really listen to his studio stuff, but the live cuts that I've seen/heard are pretty good.

you gotta be kidding me. I'm not a John Mayer fan but I have to admit he's a KILLER guitarist.

I think he's a great song writer and a very tasteful guitar player. Bit of a bimbo personality wise.

I have to say I've been impressed with him.

FIRST CONCERT: 1973 at the Montreal Forum. The line up was Rush, Nazareth, Rory Gallagher. Ticket price was $13.00. Rush'first album had just been released.

My band plays "Good Lovin on the Way" and I liked him on the old Chapelle show, but that's about it.

First concert was Jefferson Airplane, first solo concert was Grand Funk Railroad with an English blues band opening act named Yes.

I would have never bought a John Mayer CD until I heard a live cut of his trio. Freakin outstanding three piece blues, nothing like that poppy stuff on the radio. There's a couple good ones on his CDs that get no airplay. Most of his good stuff is too good for the common radio listener to follow, don't let his radio stuff fool you.

By far the best one:

And he's a good guitarist. I try to avoid his earlier work, but it seems like he matured over the years. He's got awesome songs.

I fully agree with that. He appears on Clapton's Crossroads double DVD and puts in a really impressive performance. It's nice to see him play and pick softly and quietly to emphasize feeling and mood in a song.

I think he's going to season a really well as he gets older.

First concert was Beck when I was 12 or 13 (25 now). Good Show, very energetic.

Last concert I went to was none other than The Victor Wooten Band.....Pure Awesomeness!

I'd hazard to guess that he was waiting for his audience to mature.

Acoustic bubblegum pop = platform to fame from which to play rockin' blues.

JM is a good writer/player. I'm not moved to buy his stuff, but it's well crafted.
I saw him play a Hendrix song on the TV a while back and I didn't think he added much to it.

First concert: Ike & Tina Turner Review; Second: Zappa & MoI. Cool parents!
