Do you believe me that I am smoking tobacco now? http://www.simplycigars.co.uk/condor...0g-p-1264.html
What is this pipe tobacco like? I saw some in the local newsagents and iId rather get some proper pipe tobacco to use in it.
I can't wait to try it out
EDIT: also, is there anything I might find around the house that i can use as a tamp as I don't have a pipe tool yet.

Come to think of it. I really can't remember that last time I've seen someone smoking from a pipe. Are they getting popular again?
I have no actual useful information. |

I'm assuming in the UK that 16 is a legal age for smoking tobacco?

Look, can we keep it off the "16 yr old boy with a pipe? sounds a bit weird to me" and more on what the actual thread is about? Also, I'm not smoking it to be cool or anything like that, I'm smoking a pipe because I want to smoke a pipe.

Once you start a thread on the intrawebz, you lose all control of it. Trying to direct this thread will be harder than herding cats.

I have just read up about condor tobacco and apparently it is a very satisfying smoke but you need a dedicated pipe and the taste stays in the pipe for a long time so I am going to have another look at what other pipe tobaccos they have in the newsagents near me they do loose tobacco but i would want to try a branded one first before buying anything to specific.
What about what i could use as a tamp?

I'm going to build it up, just smoking a half-full pipe for the few few smokes.
What's your favourite way of lighting a pipe? I mean do you prefer matches, butane lighters, petrol lighters etc.

The 'topping' used to add aromatic essence to the tobacco will haunt a pipe, so as you mentioned, it would be a good idea to either buy a pipe specifically for it, or purchase a cheap corn cob to try it out. I don't know if you have any experience with tobacco, but I would not be inclined to recommend Condor as a starting point. Rather, you may want to look for a lighter Virginia-based tobacco, that is 'untopped' (flavoured) or lightly topped. I would suggest Virginia Number 1 by Macbarens, or Sail Green in the pouch. Pack your pipe in thirds, starting with a loose pack and graduating to a firm pack by the time the bowl is filled. After the second stack of packing, draw through the unlit pipe and test how easily air fills your mouth. Too firm a draw will cause the tobacco to burn hot and can lead to pipe burnout (plus, it will taste awful). Too loose a pack will be difficult to keep lit. Matches impart less flavour to tobacco on light up than a lighter, but the choice is yours.
Lastly, I suggest you check out 'Smokers Forums' (based in the UK for the last word on all things tobacco pipes. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
