I took it a little hard at first cause I was turning 40, but with my friends and family, I pulled thru cool!
They had had a party for me at the club Sat night, and every time I sat down, there was a drink or shot waiting for me! Man did I get plastered. Good thing I thought ahead and had a ride. Lucky me, I didn't have a hang over the next morning.
Then last night, since it was officially my birthday, I went to where my bf DJs at on Sundays and Mondays, and I had two drinks. I was not really in a drinking mood lol!
It was a blast and I realized that turning 40 feels same as when I turned 21!

Happy 40th!!! It really is great!!! And it really does just keep getting better. Loved my 40th...loved my 50th...and my 60th last year was awesome!!! I am retiring in 38 days, moving to Lake Charles, Louisiana, and marrying the most wonderful, most incredible man I have ever known...the man I have been in love with for 28 years (he is a bass player). Life is good. Sounds like you have a great attitude, great family, great friends...life is good!!!

Mine's next month. Trying to find a venue for it. Ideally I would like to drink and play music. I might just opt for drinking.

Why is turning 40 a big deal to some? Is it better to state that one is 39 years and 403 days old?

it's just the transition from 30s to the 40s. I was like that when I turned 30 also. That's all. Some people take it harder than others. For me, got worse since my father passed away two years ago. If I explained it, then I am scared I will get ridiculed for it. So therefore I won't.

Your vision is getting pretty bad, huh?

Happy birthday, Selena!

I wish I could tell you how awesome being 40+ is. All I know is that my body hurts more and makes more unintentional noises than ever before. There was some other stuff, too, but I forgot...

Right on. I think aging tends to remind people of their own mortality, and is often the reason why "milestones" such as turning 18, 21, 30, 40, etc are such a big deal.

Personally, I see aging as simply a natural process of life, something that happens every second, which is why such milestones don't mean all that much to me. On my birthday my mother would always ask me if I feel any older. All I could say was about a day older than I was yesterday.

Oh, and I forgot to say, congrats on making it this far, hopefully you'll have much further to go!
