Well, after being anti-Apple for pretty much ever, I finally caved and got an iPhone. My BlackBerry Curve was falling apart and I switched providers to AT&T since buying the house and having horrible Sprint service here.
Sooo, fill me in. What do I need to know about this toy, what apps are must-haves, etc.

Other than that, you have become assimilated.

I'd have an iPhone right now if it weren't on AT&T. But then again, I really dig my Droid.

Ditto. The people I know with iPhones love the phone but they generally complain about spotty service. Verizon might not have the best choices of phones but in the 10 years or so that I've been with them I've never had service issues - and I love my Droid.

* iReal Book (charts)
* SoundHound (looking up songs you don't know the artist and/or title to)
* Ear Trainer
* Reverse (reverse chord lookup)
* TC Electronic Polytune app - works great!
Other great apps I use regularly:
* Evernote - great for capturing notes in a central place and syncing them to different devices.
* Co-Pilot - GPS Navigation
* MLB2010 - if you're into baseball.
* my6sense - feed reader including Twitter and Facebook
* ESPN ScoreCenter
* IM+ Lite - Chat
* USA Today
* CNN
* Amazon Kindle
* Paypal
* HR Battle - 3D HR derby simulation. Great graphics
* Baseball '10 - Fun baseball game
* 9innings - Another baseball game
* Bejeweled
* Angry Birds - addictive
* DoodleJump - also addictive
* Appzilla - over 90 utilities in one app
* RedBox - reserve a movie at a RedBox machine from your phone
* NetFlix - soon to come!
* Wolfram - hundreds of technical reference utilities, just awesome
* Pandora - streaming customizable radio
* IMDb - who was the actor in that movie?
* RedLaser - scan and lookup bar codes
There are lots of others loaded, but these are the ones that get a lot of play. Enjoy!

Shazam.
Really cool app for identifying songs.
Pandora Mobile.
If you like Pandora internet radio, this is the mobile version.
My only complaint is that the app has to be open to run. You can't be on the internet or typing an email with Pandora playing.
PolyTune.
I got it for free.
Not sure I'll ever need a tuner on my iPhone, but it's a cool app. |

I've been perfectly happy using iPhone + PC though.
Did you get a 16 or 32GB model? I assume for $150 it was the 32GB, right?

Any way you (or anyone else) can explain how to do this with I-tunes? I'm pretty dense apparently with I-stuff! Thanks!!!

I think once you plug in your iPhone and click on it in itunes you can go to the section for photos and just choose which folders you want to sync but I don't do it much so I'll have to see for sure when I get home.
I'd heard that pricing on the 16GB 3GS was dropped to $99. If you can scrape together another fifty bucks this week you could take it back and get a 16GB iPhone 4 for $199. There's at least a 14 day return period and maybe more.

2. Connect the Ipod to the computer, Itunes should start.
3. Go to File>Add folder to library. It should give you the option to choose the folder where you want the pictures to be uploaded from.
4. Click on the folder you created earlier and it should all upload onto your Itunes.

Basically, there's a setting in the "Photos" section in the iPhone settings in iTunes. Go there, and select which folder you want to sync with. Now, I had to separate my pictures into subfolders within this folder for them to appear in different folders accordingly...
So basically, say you choose to sync to My Pictures. Make sure to check "include all subfolders"
then on your computer, go to your My Pictures folder and create subfolders in there, and sort your pictures into these folders however you want them to be sorted.

Edit - Oh, upload pictures TO the iPhone. I dunno
