Well, not really. I wish I were paid!

My point is that I see nearly everyone using the term/spelling "payed" which got me to thinking a bit about it.

You see, I was taught and have always used the term "paid" which I believe is the current correct spelling.

It seems that the "payed" spelling has become quite prevalent on the internet though. I wonder if the dictionary spelling will eventually be changed to reflect this common usage?

Got me thinking, too. Seems they're both acceptable:

Captions above cats have become quite prevalent on the internet, too. Don't start thinking they'll eventually start appearing above cats in real life as well.

That link indicates that "payed" is obsolete, with certain limited exceptions that don't appear to be relevant here.

This proves that nonsense, repeated often enough, becomes truth.

Well, that's pretty much what I was getting at. In the English language, once a word has become common usage, it's there to stay.

Some of those other postings - LOL!

I wish that there was good laughing emoticon available.
