Unless youre in some far off place that I cant access, and I havent seen you in quite some time, I dont really want to talk to you on the phone. Dont call me unless you have a purpose.

The operative phrase being "to me." As a service member stationed literally half the planet away from some of my loved ones, I truly appreciate it. I can talk to (and see) family in the states for free.

Also found it to be more stable in the background when running games than MSN messenger 
Not to mention that free is cheaper than a mobile phone call.

I could call anyone in the States right from my computer, which made it easy to keep up with family, conduct normal home business (purchases, utilities, etc), never mind communicating with my girlfriend.
To me, it's been invaluable.

As far as the phone comment, long distance calls cost money, skype is free... What is not to like?
