I'm expecting some equipment from one of the companies I endorse. Today I'm on my front porch talking on the phone, when a UPS truck backs into my driveway. Then the guy puts the truck in "drive", and leaves. Turns out, he past the house he was looking for. Why must the gods play with our delicate emotions?

2 hours later, FedEx delivered my package.

I had something similar happen to me.

I was home awaiting the package. The tracking info says "out for delivery". First, UPS pulls up to my corner (I live on a corner lot) and then takes a right and goes in the opposite direction. Then he goes around the block pulls up to my corner again and this time goes straight! A few minutes later I see him going across my street a block down!! At this time it's after 6pm so I'm a little concerned if I will be getting my stuff. I see him one more time further down the block, he takes a left and never comes by again.

Later I check the status and it's changed to.........something I cant' remember, but is pretty much says "You're not gettin' anything today"

Lucky for me my brother works for UPS and is at the same depot this guy will be going back too. I call him up and asked him if he knows the guy doing my route. He tells me the regular guy is on vacation and there is a new guy doing my neighborhood. No kidding? Apparently he not very good with house numbers, I tell him. My brother was good enough to wait around for him and retrieve my package. I picked it up at his house a little while later.

Yes, it was some bass guitar parts too. It was also a Friday IIRC.

this would be me, if I knew that my stuff was for sure on the truck: "HEY YOU STOP!!!!!!"

Beleive me the thought entered my mind.

The first time he pulled up I heard that familiar sound of the diesel UPS truck and watched him from my window. He was stopped at the intersection for longer then he had to be, so I thought something might have been wrong.

The second time I made it to the front porch to watch him cross my street instead of taking a left and go down it.

The third and fourth time he was a block or more away. I almost got in my truck and chased him down. By the way he was driving through the neighborhood I was certain he didn't know where my address was and to this day I can't figure out why he never did. He was so close. At his first mistake by taking the right instead of the left he should have noticed the house numbers going the wrong way. I don't know. Just like Wookchuck said. "Why must the gods play with our delicate emotions?"
