So, I posted an ad on CL locally for a Broyhill bunk bed that my kids used after being potty trained 'cause we were having the house remodeled and they had to share a bedroom for 6-8 months while the construction took place.
I get the ususal 'bid against thyself' requests and just poorly worded replies that I respond to with: The bunkbed is still available price is; $***.**. It is available to view most weeknights & weekends.
Then I get this inquiry: Hello
Thanks for the prompt response,I have read your ad well,I am really Interested in purchasing the bunk bed,The price is okay by me,I will like to bring it to your notice that payment will be via Cashiers or Certified bank check since I am not presently around to view it ,and I believe what I am buying from you is in good condition so I want to secure the purchase to avoid loosing the it and my mover will be at your location for pick up after you have received and confirmed payment,if this is okay by you, please do provide me with the below information to facilitate mailing the payment to you so as to have this transaction completed ASAP
Full Name.............................................. ...........................
Address where payment will be sent to not p.o.box............
City.............................................. ....................................
State............................................. ....................................

Impressive though, they're getting better, they'll mention the actual product now, rather than just "your item" or "the product" etc... |

really read about scams before you use a service that opens up potential to be scammed on |

I just wanted to share. You can't even sell second hand stuff without folks wanting to scam you.

Aaron, about once a week, we get this exact same thread. You ought to run a search for craigslist scams here in OT and in other forums, you'll see a ton of the exact same email.

So for now, I have resolved that issue.

So I totally made $90 on a $70 case, and all I had to do was give him my bank info! |
