Your cat should be OK. I've got quite alot of layman experience with this.

Thankfully it is just leg which is broken. Make sure to keep a close eye on it, a thread just days ago about a fellow TB'er who's dog had been hit, but had also suffered some internal damage which I dont think had initially shown up on xray

Unfortunately, that happened to me, with one of my dogs. Saw it, right in front of my eye. Fortunately, I was able to comfort him a bit, before he passed. He died in my arms.

And if your fist with brass knuckles managed to fly into his face, then oh well... and if his house windows had all been smashed in, that kind of stuff mysteriously happens. I'm not down with idiots hitting animals in their cars. Or I'd at least have thrown a brick at his back windshield.
I hope that your cat is going to be alright.

We once ran over our first cat, as far as we can tell (didn't see him) he was asleep behind our back wheel and didn't move when when reversed out of our drive.
He was remarkably ok, i dont think he had any long-lasting injuried at all
