i wouldn't be surprised if the packers tie is a violation of employee code of conduct under appropriate dress.

If you wear an item of clothing that identifies you as partisan in some way (sports, politics, music, etc..) this automatically alienates a certain percentage of your prospects.
In this case, a car salesman in Chicago wearing a Packers tie while trying to sell cars to interested customers is just being stupid and he should be fired. If I were working there, I'd be a bit ticked off if my fellow salesman pulled a stunt like that.

He asked the guy to remove his tie, which in that situation was a perfectly reasonable request, and the guy refused. At that point the boss was well within his rights to fire the guy for insubordination.
