Yes, I am a nerd.

And the parts regarding the wee lass were awesome, she really does steal the show!

I personally didn't have a problem with the little girl's language. But characters like that I find kind of annoying, when the girl is like 8-12 and talks like she's 20-30. Its a little hard to believe.

It's kind of a cool concept but kind of jarred me the wrong way. I like John Romita Jr but there was something narcissistic about how the violence was handled in the comic and the trailers look like the movie kept that quality. |

Also, NICOLAS CAGE IN A NON-NATIONAL TREASURE MOVIE.

Again, it's not that I have any problem with people swearing, trust me lol, but it just doesn't feel natural when it's so exaggerated. Especially the girl swearing while talking to her father. While it was humourous, again it just doesn't feel natural.
As for the violence? Well that's no surprise. I guess it's probably true to the comic.

the movie's entirely about being as ridiculous and shocking as possible, or that the various creatives could muster. |

(not as bad as jurassic park/the lost world, though. )
it's also a bit of a problem... i don't know when romita jr and millar are going to put out the next collection, but it can, in principle, start up within a matter of months, whereas the movie sequel would take two years-ish to release. (of course, the first series also took about two years to complete... ) |

| | is, against all odds, still a scuba viking. | | Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Alta Loma, California | | | honestly, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting it to be a thoroughly light-hearted escape from reality type film (which it was, for a while). I think they made it too serious when it was revealed that (spoiler alert, stop reading if you haven't seen it) the dad was actually a deranged ex cop that was basically brainwashing his child into becoming a killing machine. IMO, it kind of ruined the fun and ridiculous mood present prior to that, and made you think "oh, this isn't just preposterous destruction porn type debauchery with no grounding in reality, it's actually rather poignant".
I guess the simplest way to iterate what I'm saying is that I was expecting a spoof-type film (think Hot Shots Part Deuce), and a spoof it was not.

I hate when little kids swear in movies, it's not that it offends me, it's just that you never hear kids talk like that in real life, so it's not too realistic. Plus kids are dumb and can't think of witty comebacks
